On June 14th, we returned to the WDR Cosmo Festival for the third year in a row, turning the bus into a high-energy dancefloor once again. With friends like Mila, J-JD, Omar Jatta, and special guest Careless on deck, we celebrated global sounds in an intimate space that kept people dancing long after midnight.
Every year at the start of summer, the WDR Cosmo Festival takes place at JunkYard. June 14th was an extremely hot day, just like the lineup.
Cosmo is a radio station by WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk) that focuses on global music and offers its audience a wide range of artists, both on air and at the festival.
Many international acts showed what they’re capable of, but there was also an Afrobeats stage featuring local artists, including some of our friends like Mila, J-JD, and Omar Jatta.
This year marked our third time in a row at the festival, and once again, we brought the party to the bus. Our playtime was from 10 PM to 2 AM, but it got extended by another hour because people simply didn’t want to leave and were still in the mood to dance.
We also had a special guest: Careless joined us this year – and for them, it was their first-ever rave in a bus. Careless had already played at our first club session earlier this year, and their blend of uptempo sounds like House, Afrohouse, Batida, Gqom, Baile Funk, and UK Bass really fired up the bus.
What makes the bus so special is that it’s not particularly big – but the energy inside is something you can’t describe, only feel.
